Index 1.5 is the long-established organic material: clear vision, low weight and good impact resistance. It is usually the choice up to about ±2.00 dioptres and for full-rim frames. Index 1.6 is thinner and lighter, about 20% less thickness than 1.5 for the same prescription. It suits medium prescriptions, from about ±2.00 to ±4.00, and it is the right lens for rimless frames or semi-rimless frames with a nylon cord. The hydrophobic anti-reflective coating cuts reflections from lights and screens, sheds water and keeps the lens cleaner.
